Students First

Joy is a former public school teacher, an executive with private sector experience, and a researcher with a passion for finding ways to improve our schools and improve student academic performance. Joy’s experience, dedication and passion for reform led to her appointment to the State Board of Education in January of 2012.

Once again she has shown a complete disregard for the stress and anxiety her decisions have created for Oklahoma students and families. Now, families across the state will spend Mother's Day weekend wondering if their child is able to pass to the 4th grade or not.

Barresi continues to centralize education decisions while depriving parents of the ability to direct the education of their own children.

"It's time to put our students ahead of politics. We desperately need a change in leadership at the State Department of Education. Oklahoma public school children deserve better."
