“Janet Barresi's has governed with hypocrisy and divisiveness from Day 1," said Republican educator and business owner, Joy Hofmeister, who has been planning a campaign for Oklahoma State Superintendent.
"Janet Barresi's decisions have been made solely on her quest for power instead of what's best for our kids," Hofmeister said, "and that has made Oklahoma's Department of Education extremely dysfunctional.”
"It is Janet Barresi who has governed as a liberal. She has centralized power and resources into her lavish office on Lincoln Boulevard while robbing local schools, parents and teachers of local control. Barresi’s centralization of education is what I call classic liberalism,” Hofmeister said.
And to answer Ms. Barresi: "No, we did not participate in any closed door meetings with the OEA whom Ms. Barresi turned to for managerial guidance only two years ago.”
"The Friends of Joy Hofmeister campaign has been meeting with parents, teachers, Republican lawmakers and Main Street business owners who are desperate for new leadership in education. They are encouraging me to run, and I'm very close to making my final decision," Hofmeister said.
Hofmeister says she will make a final decision and campaign announcement in January.
